Wonder Works Children’s Museum

Oak Park, Illinois

The Wonder Works Children’s Museum provides a play-spaced learning environment for kids ages birth to 8 years old. The museum was interested in better understanding the needs and interest of their visitors and the local community before making decisions about their current space and programming. We conducted a community study to engage staff, visitors, partners, and community members in providing feedback about the museum experience. We took a multi-pronged approach including:

  • Employee survey

  • Data party with existing data

  • Community survey

  • Visitor focus groups

The results of the study directly informed the museum’s strategic plan and allocation of resources. Specifically, the museum decided to lean into their local niche and to focus on more gross-motor skills in play in their programming.

Community Research Study

“Working with Inform was an absolute pleasure and felt like a true partnership from start to finish. From the beginning, the process felt collaborative, thoughtful, and based on a genuine understanding of our museum's mission and goals.

They made us feel that every step of the process was being taken with them, and was purposeful. They worked effortlessly with every member of our team and brought warmth and respect while engaging members of our community, allowing us to gather the insights we needed to move forward. Their partnership, insight, and guidance has been and continues to be instrumental in helping us thoughtfully shape our strategic plan.”
